About:
This artwork was inspired by a photograph taken by my husband when we were travelling in Botwana in 2011. He (the chameleon, not my husband) was climbing up a tree on the outskirts of the camp we were staying in for a few days & it was the first time I had ever seen a Chameleon in person, let alone up close in the wild, legitimately close enough to lick (promise I did not lick).
He was pretty keen to get up that tree & escape the wildlife paparazzi (aka us) & I respect that need to escape as we ourselves were, in that moment, actually hiding out from a fellow camp mate who didn't know when to stop talking. I reckon maybe he could be the original Karma Chameleon.
This artwork depicts a single vibrant coloured Chameleon climbing up a dark tree, against a contrasting teal coloured sky. This piece is a stylized to create interest & visual textures whilst having minimal physical texturing.
