About the Artwork:

Title: My Name is Jeff

Original Artwork Completed: 2021

"My Name is Jeff" to date is my most popular & inquired about artwork, which is pretty funny really when you learn how he came to be.

One particular day I was working on a new piece of art that I shared with my husband & asked his thoughts.  Now, I have to disclaimer this, our "love language" in marriage (especially as we get older) is winding each other up.  So, the conversation went something like this:

Me: "Hey Gav, what do you think of my new painting?"

Gav: "It's not a duck though?"

Me: "No, it's a lion"

Gav: "But I wanted a duck!"

Me: "This isn't for you."

Gav: ...

Me:...

Me: "So you want me to paint you a duck?"

Gav: "Yep."

Me: "Are you serious?"

Gav:...

Never one to back down from a challenge I immediately took the lion painting off my easel & started drafting up a duck painting, nothing special, just an ordinary duck.  Less than 30 minutes later I sent an image of the duck in progress to Gavin and said "You better appreciate this, this duck better hang in your office for the rest of your life!" to which he replied "I wanted a gangsta duck."

After muttering a few colourful words to myself, I started to think about how to make the duck "gangsta". 

Images of gold chains, diamond grills & backwards caps is what immediately came to mind, but after a few moments thinking about what makes "gangsta" I thought of that scene in 22 Jump Street when Channing Tatum, trying to appear gangsta, utters the words "My Name is Jeff" & so Jeff the duck was born & the rest was quacking history.
